At GlobalConnect we are always developing new ideas and devising
new plans. How can we utilize our fibre network and
telecommunications technology in the best way? What new business
opportunities are there in delivering super-high data speeds? How
can we best serve our customers, the industry, and society? Here
are some examples.
The monopoly-breaking spirit lives on
GlobalConnect broke the state telecoms monopoly in Denmark in
1997. Today, we are still passionate about opening up for new
opportunities within the IT and telecommunications industries. Our
philosophy is to offer an open fibre network and an open
infrastructure to anyone who wants to be part of a growing
industry. This idea is reflected in our solution for effective
peering in Denmark, Content-IX.
Fibre networks can be used for a lot - and especially for
content
In 2008 GlobalConnect and Energi Fyn launched the pioneering
company GigaContent.
GigaContent delivers solutions to anyone who works with video
content in Denmark, among others the major broadcasters, banks,
industrial corporations, and many more. This is an intelligent and
innovative use of GlobalConnec's super-fast fibre network, and the
company is growing leaps and bounds.
We support research into new technology
Grid computing is the basis for the networked gigantic computer
of the future with massive amounts of processing power. Grid
computing uses super-fast fibre networks to connect many computers.
Currently one such grid computing network is working on
investigating the existence (or not) of the universe's smallest
constituents in CERN's giant
LHC project. GlobalConnect has for 2 years supported a Ph.D.
research project aiming to improve the way in which a fibre network
can be used for grid computing.
