GlobalConnect's business continues to expand, and our standards
for security and effective operations are higher than ever. For
this reason GlobalConnect has chosen to invest in a brand new OMC -
Operations and Maintenance Centre - which will be instrumental in
setting an even higher quality standard for all GlobalConnect
solutions. The new OMC is located at our headquarters in Taastrup
and has been operating since July 2010.
High uptime and effective processes
- The monitoring of networks, data centres, and all other
infrastructure is extremely important to ensure high uptime and to
optimize our workflow. For the new OMC we have used many of the
same redundancy principles as employed in our data centres. In this
way we can monitor our systems constantly, and the risk of a
disruption of the monitoring is minimal, says Tore Heide Villund,
GlobalConnect's housing manager and chief engineer behind the new
OMC.
Complete monitoring
In the new OMC only first class equipment is used for
monitoring. On rows of giant flat screens OMC personnel can view
network status and any fault indicators or alarms. Also any
physical access - meaning gates and doors - to GlobalConnect's data
centres are video monitored on the OMC.
