The need for speed on the Internet is increasing, and more and
more companies are choosing to place their servers and other IT
equipment in housing facilities provided by GlobalConnect. That's
why we have begun construction of three new data centres near our
headquarters Taastrup. With the new facilities we will reach a
total floor area of 4,000 square meters distributed among 18 data
centres across Denmark and Germany.
The three new data centers are expected to open in June this year,
and they will be able to accommodate several thousand new servers,
the vast majority of which will be connected to GlobalConnect's
nationwide fibre network.
Demand for GlobalConnect's housing services - also called
colocation services - is growing quickly. Many companies prefer to
rent space in professional data centers because it provides the
economies of scale reserved for large corporations even for
companies that are not among the biggest. When you choose to
outsource your housing to a data centre provider, your operational
reliability will be extremely high. We take care of the power and
cooling, while you manage your servers and applications.
- Developments in telecom and IT housing is primarily driven by
large bandwidth network connections, such as GlobalConnect's
high-speed fibre links. It means that it no longer makes any
difference whether a server is located at home in your basement or
in a professional data centre many miles away. And there is money
to save on operations, because you no longer need to assume
responsibility for monitoring of UPS's and generators. Instead you
can focus your resources on doing business, says Tore Villund,
GlobalConnect's Head of Housing Services.
All of GlobalConnect's datacentres are equipped with redundant
power supplies, cooling, and access and climate control ensuring
optimal operating conditions for servers and other equipment.
Monitoring takes place 24/7 from GlobalConnect's OMC in
Taastrup.
