With the acquisition of the housing company PointZero,
GlobalConnect now runs data centres in all parts of Denmark,
further cementing its status a one of the nation's largest
providers of IT infrastructure.
"We are extremely happy with this deal," says Niels Zibrandtsen,
CEO at GlobalConnect. "PointZero is an important step in our
development towards becoming the business sector's preferred
partner in IT infrastructure and co-location." In addition to the
headquarters in Taastrup, GlobalConnect owns and operates 14 data
centres in Kolding, Copenhagen, Hamburg and now also in Odense on
Funen. This is a total of more than 4,500 sq m of
professional data centre floor space, housing equipment from a
number of Danish and foreign service providers and companies.
By acquiring PointZero, GlobalConnect increases its data centre
capacity by 350 sq m which were already connected to
GlobalConnect's nationwide fibre network. This gives the existing
customer group at PointZero full utilisation of GlobalConnect's
setup, in which transmission and housing come together in a natural
environment. GlobalConnect will take over operations at PointZero
on 1 August 2010, but the day-to-day management and business
development will still be handled by Peter Stoffer.
